The Fox
Österreich, mid-1920s: Out of great necessity, the Streitberger family of mountain farmers places their youngest son in the care of a large farmer.
Even when Franz (SIMON MORZÉ) is allowed to give up his servitude on reaching adulthood, he cannot forgive his father (KARL MARKOVICS). In search of work, he joins the army. Among his sociable fellow soldiers, the sensitive, taciturn Franz always remains a strange outsider. When the company is due to launch the attack on France in 1940, he finds an injured fox cub in the forest. Without further ado, Franz decides to take care of the abandoned animal and nurse it back to health. Driven by his affection for his fox, he embarks on the dangerous journey to the front as a motorcycle courier.
