Spring, summer & fall, the Wehrburg opens its doors for you

Fortress Hohenwerfen is generally open from spring to late fall . In winter, the medieval fortified castle closes its doors and goes into hibernation.

When our castle tours & the birds of prey flight demonstration take place

You can only explore the interior of Fortress Hohenwerfen Castle as part of guided tours that take place throughout the day. During the birds of prey flight demonstrations, the falconers of Fortress Hohenwerfen and their majestic birds of prey show off their skills several times a day. These impressive demonstrations of the the high art of falconry you should definitely not miss!

Age: suitable for children aged 3 and over; children receive their own children's audio guide (available in German, English, Italian, Dutch, Danish and Hebrew) at the start of the castle tour.

April 01 to November 08: 11:15 and 15:15

July 20 to August 21: 11:15, 14:15 and 16:30

August 22 to November 8: 11:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

October 09 to 11: no flight demonstrations

Location: Lindenwiese in the lower castle courtyard
Duration: approx. 25 min (depending on the weather)

Dear dog owners!

Please note: Dogs on a lead are welcome in the outdoor areas of the castle and during the birds of prey flight demonstrations. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the castle tours through the interior - with the exception of assistance dogs, of course.
